A morning walk with archaeoastronomer Carolyn Kennett and Dartmoor guide Paul Rendell.
Sunday 25th May, 0930, Norsworthy Bridge car park
Experience the solemn magic of one of Dartmoor’s finest and most mystical stone rows. The Down Tor stone row and cairn circle, near Burrator Reservoir, is about four thousand years old and was built by our Neolithic ancestors. It is over 300 metres long and contains at least 174 stones, with a 1.6m high standing stone and cairn circle at the western end.
Carolyn Kennett is an archaeoastronomer who specialises in exploring the ancient relationship between humanity, the landscape, and the sky. With a deep knowledge of prehistoric sites and their celestial alignments, Carolyn will guide you through the significance of the Down Tor stone row and cairn circle, shedding light on how our Neolithic ancestors may have used these remarkable structures to mark the passage of time, track celestial events, or perform rituals tied to the cycles of nature. archaeoastronomycornwall.com
