Saturday 24th May, 19:30 – 21:00 at Gnash Comics, Ashburton, TQ13 7DT

Exiled. Blinded. Lost.
Maklan of the Deer Tribe of the North, journeys through the ancient landscape of Dartmoor in search of family, friendship and a true tribe.

Join Caspar Walsh, the Dartmoor-based author of young adult novel Tribe Warrior, for a special spoken word performance, bringing the novel to life. Tribe Warrior  – a redemptive story about finding our place in the world – was born from the rivers, tors and folklore of Dartmoor and inspired by the real lives of former young prisoners and their journey to freedom. Caspar will use his 25-plus experience as a spoken word artist, accompanied by a soundtrack to bring this landmark Dartmoor myth to life.

Afterwards Caspar will be in conversation with Rozi Hilton exploring the themes of Tribe Warrior and how it mirrors his own journey, which led to the founding of the award-winning charity, Rite to Freedom. This event celebrates 16 years of Rite to Freedom’s work and the launch new Dartmoor Social Enterprise, Creative Pathways – Nature. Arts. Wellbeing.  There will also be an exhibition about the work of the charity (more below) .
