We look forward to welcoming Guy Shrubsole to the Dartmoor Tors Festival to talk about some of the key land issues of the day in our Dartmoor – Open to All ? panel. For anyone not familiar with his work Guy is the best-selling author of the seminal Who Owns England, a book which uncovers the truth about land ownership in the UK, revealing what a shockingly small number of people own most of the land.
In The Lost Rainforests of Britain he investigated and mapped the unique temperate rainforests of these islands. His latest acclaimed book, The Lie of the Land, brings him back to land ownership where he argues that landowners have failed in their duty to care for the countryside, and he urges us all to challenge poor standards and outright exploitation.
Guy follows up words with actions and he is one of the founders of Right To Roam, a campaign group aiming to increase access to the countryside for all.
