One of the most exciting archaeological discoveries on Dartmoor in recent years, the Cut Hill bronze age burial kist was excavated in August 2024. Andy and Lee will also be talking about their fascinating work at Piles Hill recently where a surface made of quartz was unearthed underneath a Bronze Age stone row.

An expert on Exmoor and Dartmoor archeology and lecturer at Exeter University, Dr Lee Bray lead the excavation at Cut Hill. Lee is Cornish by birth and was originally a geologist. He is now an archaeologist having gained a PhD from the University of Exeter focussing on Roman iron working on Exmoor. He is now part of the archaeological team for Dartmoor National Park, a post he has held for ten years.
Andy Crabb is one of DNPA’s archaeologists and has worked on Dartmoor for over 15 years, his role covering all aspects of archaeological management, providing planning advice and even a bit of digging.
