Travel information
Ashburton is easily accessible by car, it just off the A38, almost half way between Plymouth and Exeter.
Regular buses run to Ashburton from Exeter & Plymouth (38), Newton Abbot (88, 113, 172), Totnes (88), Tavistock (113, 172), Ivybridge (38), with connections from Newton Abbott and Totnes to Torbay. Please check with the operators for timetables and that services are running as some are seasonal.
Rail connections to buses are available at Newton Abbot, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth.
Where to Stay
Run by Amy and Biff the gorgeous Ashburton Court Guest House has B&B rooms and a self catering apartment a couple of minutes from the centre of town.
The recently refurbished, 22 room Dartmoor Lodge is on the edge of town, 10 minutes walk from the town centre.
Find traditional charm at Gages Mill B&B which has 7 rooms just outside of town, 15 minutes walk from the town centre.
The delightful 10 room Furzeleigh Mill, recently winning awards for its restaurant, is a hotel which is a 5 minute drive, 45 minute walk to the town centre (Geoff will also give you a lift in his minibus if you ask nicely !)
There is classic field camping at Summerhill Farm not far from the River Dart with the usual mod-cons like showers and laundry. Its about 25 minutes walk from the centre of Ashburton.
Slightly further out is the River Dart Country Park with a campsite and caravan park, 9 B&B rooms and a cafe/bar. Right by the riverside it has plenty of outdoor activities on site as well. It’s 5 minutes by car or a 35 minute walk from the town centre.
