A walk among the tors with Dartmoor guide Paul Rendell
Monday 26th May, 0930, Pork Hill car park
Join Paul on an exploration of five spectacular Dartmoor tors including Great Staple Tor with its wonderful rock stacks. People living on the moor years ago would have seen these rocks which look like faces and maybe used them to celebrate mid- summer or mid-winter, using these tors as their gods. On this two and half hour walk of five miles, we will look at how the tors were formed and hear some of the stories behind these granite outcrops. Roos Tor looks out into wild open moorland while at Cox Tor there are tales of hares turning into witches.
Paul Rendell – known fondly as ‘Dartmoor Paul’ is a historian, author and walk leader who has lived locally all his life. His knowledge of Dartmoor is second to none.
