WALK: Lines of Granite – a drawing walk to Bench Tor with Kay Pearson

Friday 1st May, 09:30 – 12:30, Venford Reservoir

Sometimes to walk slowly and observe closely is a great way to see Dartmoor.  No route plans, times and distances to be met.  Just to amble, stop, sketch, and be in the moment is a great pleasure.

Come and spend a morning walking and drawing with Dartmoor-based contemporary artist and moorland guide Kay Pearson. Following a great walk at last year’s festival with a group of fun, engaged, and inspiring people, Kay is back this year to lead another ‘Lines of Granite’ drawing walk.  This year we will head to Bench Tor and spend time on and around the Tor looking at and drawing the landscape and rocks in new ways, before dropping down to Venford Reservoir if time permits. Kay will lead and help with drawing ideas and opportunities, adding some Dartmoor knowledge and stories along the way. No drawing experience is needed!

Kay Pearson has been an artist and keen walker for a long time and has run workshops and art walks for art residencies, charities and as a self-employed guide. She gets an endless source of inspiration from wild places across the UK but returns to the Dartmoor landscape constantly, drawn by its wildness and drama, its atmosphere, and its layers of history
