Dartmoor Elements – Walking with Words

WALK: Dartmoor Elements – Walking with Words, poetry and performance with MED Theatre

Saturday 2nd May, 10:00 – 12:15, Dartmeet

Become immersed with the MED Theatre in a walk along the banks of the River Dart with live readings from Dartmoor Elements, a book of poems and poetic extracts by Mark Beeson who died prematurely in 2022.

Mark founded MED Theatre and was a playwright, poet, and teacher. His writings are intimate reflections on the ecology, environment and folklore of Dartmoor. In this walk MED Theatre performers will bring elements of his poetry to life through creative interpretations relevant to places along the route. Be ready to meet with leaping salmon, dappled rivers, and swooping swallows, as we celebrate the moorland environment through Mark’s words.

Abby Stobart and Helen Gilbert (seen below, on right of pic) are co-directors of Dartmoor community theatre company MED Theatre. They will lead the walk and also read and perform short extracts from the book.
