21st November 19:00 – 20:00, Folk Preservation Society, 28 Fore St, Teignmouth TQ14 8DZ
There is a hidden world of stone on Dartmoor, from strange natural features to inexplicable ancient human artefacts, from sites that can literally kill, to legendary healing places. A mysterious lithic world awaits away from the well-trodden megalithic sites and honeypot tors.
Join artist Dr Alex Murdin in exploring some of the overlooked geological, archaeological and mythical mini-marvels of this 280 million year old granite batholith.
Alex is an artist who has tramped Dartmoor for 25 years. He is the co-author of Rock Idols: A guide to Dartmoor in 28 Tors and makes art about his conversations with stone which can be seen at lithicality.space
The talk accompanies a display of Alex’s new minilithic artwork at the Folk Preservation Society throughout November.
