WALK: Tales of the Tors with Paul Rendell
Thursday 7th May, 09:30 – 12:00, Haytor
Join Dartmoor Guide Paul Rendell on exploration of five spectacular Dartmoor tors including Haytor, Saddle Tor, Emsworthy Rocks, Holwell Tor, and Smallacombe Rocks. On this 2.5 hour walk of about 4 miles, you will hear the extraordinary story of how the tors were formed from volcanos 280 million years ago, and how their weird shapes have led to some bizarre legends. Paul will also share stories of his adventures exploring the granite outcrops and wild landscapes of Dartmoor, his home for the last 50 years.
Paul Rendell – known fondly as ‘Dartmoor Paul’ is a local historian, author, editor of the Dartmoor News and walk leader who has explored the moor for over 50 years.
